Picnic at Grand View Farm is a picnic with a mission! The event, presented by Long’s Jewelers together with Pressed Café, supports adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The event will take place on Saturday, June 8th at Grand View Farm in Burlington, MA from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

The “Picnic” is not your traditional fundraiser. It’s a family oriented Saturday with great entertainment, including a live, exclusive reading from special guest Jim Petipas, Author & Illustrator of “The Cows Go Moo”, live music by The Squires of Soul, Picnic Packed Lunches from Pressed Café and lots of fun activities for the kids!

The Grand Hall schedule;

  • 11:00am - Squires of Soul play first set
  • 11:45am - Recognition to all involved and honor young Burlington resident Olivia S. of Burlington MA who is currently being treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinic
  • 12:00pm - Author & Illustrator, Jim Petipas to read and sing his book "The Cows Go Moo!" live
  • 12:30pm - Squires of Soul play second set
  • 2:00pm - Finish
  • Silent Auction Table | See what experiences, packages and other various in-kind donations from the community are available to make a bid for!
  • "Gem Stone Goodies" Corner | Sponsored by Love & Flour. As a thank you for attending our event you will receive a gem stone goodie creation by Jaime and her team at Love & Flour.

***Tables will be set up in the Grand Hall to eat***

The Ground level indoors will include the following activities;

  • "Gems Rock!" Room | Learn about different naturally formed gem stones with our own cool and wacky Long's Graduated Gemologists, Sarah and Nicole together with two young apprentices. Inspect fascinating gem formations in their natural state. Touch, feel and learn about how they are formed in the earth and find out what your birthstone is! Here you will also receive a small prize for guessing the correct answer in our game "How Many Gems in the Gems Jar?" - Suitable for ages six and up.
  • Coloring Table Room | For the little kids, coloring in pictures of gemstones with crayons. - Suitable for ages two and up.
  • Jim Petipas, Meet & Greet Room | Love the story "The Cows Go Moo!"? In this room you can purchase your very own copy (or two) and have the chance to meet Jim himself in person. 10% of proceeds will be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. - Exclusive meet and greets for sponsors are scheduled from 12:30pm - 1:30pm, doors will be closed to the general admission during these times.

Ground level outdoor section activities;

  • Outdoor "Treasure Chest" Pirate Game | Dig into our handmade treasure chest and get a prize for guessing it's value. Also meet our disgruntled Pirates Kirk and Rob! Suitable for ages five and up.(If it rains, this activity will be brought indoors on the ground level)
  • "Pearls of the World" | Meet our young Mermaid and if you decipher on her large pearl map where specific pearls originate from there will be a prize of mardigras beads for the correct answer. - Suitable for ages three and up. (If it rains, this activity will be brought indoors to the Coloring Table Room)
  • "Colors of the Sea" | Sponsored by Teal-Studio. Sign up for our colorful hairbraiding corner. Three licensed hairdressers provide a list of braid options of different hair lengths. You will have a choice of adding a clip in teal colored hair extension and/or an application of colorful hair chalk. Hairbraiding sessions are 15 minutes each. Sign up required for this activity at the information desk on the ground level next to check in. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. - Suitable for ages five and up. (If it rains, this activity will be brought indoors on the ground level)

Upstairs level activities;

  • "Tick Tock Clock Workshop" - Hosted by our very own Rolex Technician, Brandon Dark and his Tick Tock Clock apprentice. This interactive will teach you how to build a small clock and then how to dismantle the clock. Workshop is approximately 20 minutes per session with the first session starting at 11:30am, 12pm, 12:30pm, 1pm and the last at 1:30pm. The room will hold up to 10 people per workshop. Sign up will be at the information desk on the ground level next to check in. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. - Suitable for ages eight and up.
  • "Chelsea Clock Corner" | Sponsored by Chelsea Clock. View and learn how the historically famous "Ships Bell Clock" internal mechanical movement works. Meet with Chelsea Clock's own Clock Technician and practice winding the clock to understand how the bell rings! Suitable for ages five and up.
