Recently, Rolex introduced their newest line of watches, the Cellini collection. Cellini represents a contemporary celebration of the classicism and the eternal elegance of traditional timepieces.
This is an incredibly modern innovation from Rolex. People have fallen in love over time with the timeless and classic look of Rolex watches, but this collection marks a new step and direction for the brand. It's a very exciting announcement from the luxury brand that strays true to its tradition.
Let's take a deeper look into what makes the Cellini collection a standout from one of our favorite watch brands:
The new collection is made up of 12 different models that are divided into three families: Cellini Time (hours, minutes, seconds), Cellini Date (date via a hand on a sub-dial) and Cellini Dual Time (second time zone). Within each family there are four different versions: 18 ct white or Everose gold, with light or dark dials.
The name of this collection is not arbitrary. It alludes to the Italian Renaissance and one of its most respected artists, Benvenuto Cellini. Cellini was a sculptor and goldsmith to the popes at the time.
This collection marks a return to the sources of classic watchmaking, "reinterpreting it in perfect harmony with their time," Rolex claims. Everything about this collection represents a return to an era where craftsmanship and artistry were highly prevalent.
For starters, the look and design of the watches is new and fresh for Rolex. The watches are exclusively available in only shiny black or brown alligator leather straps and each has three hands and complications (date, dual time zone). Plus, all movements are certified as chronometers.
The Cellini collection is inspired by traditional watchmaking. From the material used, to the luxurious finishings and the refined lines of each watch, this collection abides by the rules of the art.
As Rolex puts it, "[This collection's] simple, clear dial pays tribute to the timeless codes of classic watchmaking, while reinterpreting them with an elegant modernity. Faceted and shaped like a two-edged sword, the hands count off each second, each minute and each hour with the full precision of the self-winding chronometer movement at the heart of this prestigious timepiece."
Any of the watches in this collection are perfect for someone looking for Rolex quality with a more traditional design.
These watches have self-winding mechanical movement with COSC-certified chronometer. They are available in either black or brown alligator leather with a buckle in the same gold as the case.
The face is 39mm with 18 ct white or Everose gold, polished finish and double bezel, domed and fluted. And, they are waterproof to a depth of 50 meters.
