While we always recommend stopping into your jeweler to get your wedding band or engagement ring cleaned, sometimes the stop just doesn't make it into your schedule. If you need to clean your ring at home, the best way is to soak your ring in a mixture of dishwashing soap with warm water for about 30 minutes. Then, gently brush your ring with a toothbrush, and rinse your ring out under warm water. We love this method because it is safe for all types wedding bands, meaning that it won't damage any gemstones or diamonds in your band and it won't scratch any types of metals.

If you are thinking about using bleach, chlorine, or acetone to clean your wedding band, think again! You should never use any of these to clean your ring, because the harsh chemicals can break down the metal in your band, as well as damage your sapphires, rubies, or emeralds.
