As we head into wedding season, we're excited to team up with the beautiful Andover Country Club to bring you their top predictions for wedding trends in 2017! Their experts have broken down their 5 favorite trends you'll be sure to see this year.
Andover Country Club: Being a venue that hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions almost every weekend of the year, means we see many wedding trends come and go. Some trends we hate to see fade out of style and others we can’t wait to never see again.
Here are some of our favorite trends we see on the horizon for 2017:
1. Mixing Design Aesthetics
Mixing vintage and modern or couture and rustic details in wedding ceremony and reception décor is a trend we see more and more from our couples. Whether it’s including bright florals and metallic place settings in a classic ballroom space or incorporating black tie wedding party attire in a woodsy outdoor setting, we love how well contrasting design elements can work together.
2. Lush Greenery
Eucalyptus, boxwood, ferns, and salal leaves are all making a big presence in wedding florals. While many of these greens are affordable options for brides on a budget, they also add a textural and organic element to your floral displays. They are the perfect addition to any bouquet and bring neutral colored arrangements to life. Greenery is also a great way to give function room and ballroom settings a botanical and vibrant feel.
3. Breaking Traditions
Whether it’s replacing your cake with a pie, not tossing your bouquet, or nixing your veil, we see many traditional wedding elements thrown aside. Non-traditional cake toppers and décor are something we see quite often from our couples. We especially love this couple who included their monogram in the cake icing.
4. Local Specialties
Including local products and specialties in guest welcome bags or favors is a great way to tie in a significant location to your big day. We’ve seen couples use doughnuts from their favorite bakery as a late night snack or small jars of honey from a local farm as favors.
Bubbles are a fun activity for guests and create great photo opportunities. They are also a nice alternative to confetti and require no clean-up! We often see couples put small jars of bubbles with their names and wedding date on display for guests to use during the cocktail hour or reception. These mini champagne bottle bubbles are our favorite!
